The oddest thing about the new joint Bungalow is that it is not actually a bungalow. That aside, Bungalow opened its doors towards the end of 2004 and has proven an instant hit with the smart set.
The patron tells us that the bar features the widest range of drinks in Lagos. Cocktails on offer include sex on the beach, blow job for women and screaming orgasm, as well as latin classics such as margaritas and caiparinhas. Bungalow also does food.

Cafe Vergnano
Address: City Mall, Onikan, Lagos Tel: 01-4443943
The best place for an espresso or cappuccino in Lagos. Cafe Vergnano opened in mid 2006 and would give Starbucks a run for their money (if there were a Starbucks in Lagos). Apart from decent coffee, you can buy beer. They also sell lovely cakes. A good place to people watch - there are often owambe's in the conference venue upstairs.

Casa del Habano
Address : Lagoon plaza (opposite 1004 flats), Ozumba Mbadiwe Avenue Tel: 01 774 8888
Don't be put off by the slightly grimy exterior of this bar (the Equity Bank building below has been screaming for a new paint job in years). Once safely ensconced in the lush interior of Casa del Habano, you enter another world: exclusive, suave, refined, Cuban. This is THE place in town to stock up on your cigar collection (there is a shop just as you enter). It's also the place to enjoy a stylish smoke or a discreet rendezvous. Stocking the very best cognacs and champagnes, Casa del Habano exudes exclusivity and good breeding. They wouldn't let us take a picture! On Friday and Saturday nights, the joint transforms into one of the hottest clubs in town, with salsa and merengue experts gracing the dance-floor.

Da Grotto
Address: Etim Inyang Crescent, V.I., Lagos (up the street from Chocolate Royal)
A recent-ish addition to the Lagos scene, Da Grotto is favoured by a youngish trend-setting crowd. A good option if you are planning pre-club activities.

Hacienda
Address: 2, Bishop Aboyade Cole Street, (Opposite Dream Plaza) Off Adetokunbo Ademola Street, VI
The best thing about the Hacienda is the garden at the back: all bamboo and tropical plants. Point to a fish swimming in the water channel and they'll scoop it out and cook for you on the spot. Fish doesn't get fresher than this in Lagos. Live music on the weekend with the house jazz band.

Saipan bar
Address: 3rd Floor, Dream Plaza, 7 Bishop Aboyade Cole Street, Victoria Island, Tel: 01-4612056
Saipan's bar on the 3rd Floor is perhaps the hippest place to be on a Friday or Saturday night. A wide range of cocktails, seductive lighting and comfy seats give you all you need for a night to kick back and/or make mischief.

Swe
Address : 2nd Floor, City Mall, Onikan
Lagos, Tel: 01-2692700
Swe bar lounge is one of the latest hotspots to open in Lagos. The joint has umpteen plasma screens, in case you are bored of your chosen company. There's a lovingly chosen selection of cocktails available. Friday and Saturday nights open till the early hours. Soon to turn into a 24 hour bar.

The Soul Lounge
Address: Unit 20, The Palms, Lekki Expressway
Victoria Island, Lagos
The Soul Lounge is the latest place to see and be seen in town. Lagos big boys and girls are making it a second living room. The bar is well stocked with all manner of vices. Wednesday through to Saturday is party night, with live band, djs, etc.
